The Christmas season is distinct. There are so many ways to celebrate the season; there are also so many pieces you can choose to remind you of the auspicious season. From lights, flowers, ribbons to the beautiful Christmas tree, you can say Merry Christmas in a thousand ways. If you are choosing some stockings as your decorative piece this Christmas, here’s how to make one at home.
1. Get your materials ready
Whatever you want to make your stockings from should by now be ready for use. The materials you will choose will be dictated by the way you wish your stockings to look. If you want some plaid stockings, you should be selecting a plaid material for your socks. The same goes for plain red stockings too.
2. Cut your material to size
You are making some stockings. You have to mark out the shape of the stockings in your material. Remember, it’s afoot and the lower part of the leg. Your stockings should have a pointy part that accommodates the foot and the section that covers the leg from the ankles up. You can choose the size you desire. Remember, you’re not planning on wearing the stockings.
3. Sew the material
It’s time to sew the pieces together. At this point, you can choose to stitch the materials with a thread and needle, or you might use a sewing machine. If you are stitching, though, remember to keep your stitches small and regular so that the stitches will last longer. Keeping the stitches consistent will make it look neater.
4. Add a faux fur
Your faux fur is to make your stockings more beautiful. You can choose to use a white faux fur or any other color. White faux fur is brilliant on red stockings. Cut your faux fur into a ring and attach it to the loose end of your stocking. It is quite a small detail that adds so much beauty to your stocking, and your homemade stocking will be ready to hang.
